2021 Triennale Theme
The theme of Gangwon Triennale 2021 is Warm Revitalization.
Amid the post-pandemic era and the Anthropocene, which have generated disasters, environmental crisis, and COVID-19, the upcoming edition of Gangwon Triennale presents expectations for revitalization and a glimpse of hope as well as a dream for the reinvigoration of daily life and regeneration of the region.

The theme of the Triennale includes subthemes of technology and ecology. At the center of the theme of Warm Vitalization lies the ecological interest in restoring the original order from the environmental degradation and environmental crisis brought about by technologies and technological civilization, which have been used for the development of humanity, that is, the message of hope for the use of technology in the right way and the resulting restoration of the ecological order. Although the combination of the words is not easily grasped, the Triennale, under the overarching theme of Warm Revitalization, promotes and realizes the subtheme of criticism of ecology-technology through eco-tech arts.
This theme includes sub-themes of technology, ecology, everyday life, and locality. This Triennale is to present disasters today through the types of Art of Everyday life, 'Eco-Art that explores ecological themes';, and 'Tech Art that explores the subject and method of technology'. We call this way of inquiry, which integrates ecology and technology, which seems different at first glance, an ‘Eco-Techne Criticism’ approach. Therefore, through a series of works called 'Art-Daily-Region-Eco-Technology' that integrates ecology and technology, the two axes that are constantly requested by daily life and art, and modern civilization, the expectation of recovery and regeneration of daily life in the post-pandemic era is expected. Together, we would like to spread the prospect for a rosy future.
