The Old Garden- Blooming Life

Artist's note

In the old garden, death and birth happen simultaneously, and beings pass away, or new beings approach at the same time. The presence of blooming flowers is the outcome of enduring the past winter times. The presence of falling flowers is the death of the future fruit. In the old garden, the body has dreams and wishes. The body also waits too long for something. The blue waiting is expressed through the present hope and dream. And the present hope and dream are expressed on the screen by holding something invisible. Nature and Humans, the main theme of the exhibition, ‘Warm Revitalization’, is a new perspective on the city and nature in which humans live. In that sense, the participant’s exploration of the surroundings, who choose natural objects, can be the first step in practice.

Introduction

In front of the Wadong branch school building stands a massive structure named cubic plant pavilion. In this work, the results of the public program where the local citizens took part in creative experiences are presented while the flowerpot project realized through the participation and donation of the local citizens goes on throughout the exhibition period. On both sides of this pavilion are structures draped with patches of white fabric. You might wonder why the title of this two-month-old structure is Old Garden. That is because the artist formatively contemplates and practices the age-old question regarding nature and humans as well and the generation and death of nature through community art.
